Trauma Therapy in Washington
Trauma‑Informed Therapy for Children, Teens, and Adults
Trauma can have a lasting impact from various experiences throughout our lifespan. Whether from childhood, relationships, medical events, workplace trauma or chronic stress that continue to impact your emotions, body, and sense of safety. Trauma therapy can help you process these experiences and restore calm, resilience, and connection.
Trauma isn’t only one big event. It can also come from repeated stress, conflict, feeling unsupported for a long time, or having to constantly cope on your own. When something feels too much, too fast, or too alone, your nervous system shifts into survival mode.
Your brain adapts to protect you — by staying hyper‑alert, shutting down, people‑pleasing, or pushing through exhaustion. These responses are not flaws or weaknesses; they’re survival strategies that once helped you get through difficult situations. But over time, they can leave you feeling anxious, disconnected, overwhelmed, or stuck.
Dr. Felts offers virtual therapy for adults, teens, and children across Washington State, providing gentle, evidence‑based support through secure telehealth.

Ways We Approach Trauma
What to expect:
-

1. Free consultation
A brief call to answer questions, talk about what you’re looking for, and see if we’re a good fit.
-

2. Getting to know you
Early sessions focus on your story, current stressors, strengths, and goals — not diving into anything you’re not ready for.
-

3. Building regulation skills
You’ll learn tools to calm your nervous system, manage anxiety, and feel more in control before we process deeper experiences.
-

4. Gentle processing at your pace
When you feel ready, we thoughtfully work through past experiences using approaches that feel safe and contained.
-

5. Integration and growth
Over time, many clients notice feeling calmer, more connected, better able to set boundaries, and less reactive to triggers.

I am an out-of-network provider which means I do not accept insurance. I am happy to provide you with a superbill, which you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. It is your responsibility to contact your insurance company to explore your out-of-network benefits.
You may want to ask your insurance provider about the following CPT codes:
90791 - Psychiatric Diagnostic Evaluation
90834 - Individual psychotherapy
90847 - Family psychotherapy without patient present
If you are not planning to use insurance, you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate under the No Surprises Act. Learn more about that here.

It’s always a good idea to call the number on the back of your health insurance card for more information. Per request, I can email you a monthly superbill (detailed receipt) which you then submit to your insurance company. Your insurance company will then mail you a check with your reimbursement.
You can ask them the following questions:
Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage? Am I able to use these benefits for telehealth?
What is my out-of-network deductible?
How much of my deductible has been met this year?
Do I need a referral from an in-network provider to see someone out-of-network?
What percentage of outpatient psychotherapy sessions are covered per session?
How much will I be reimbursed for a 45 minute psychotherapy session (CPT code: 90834)?
How do I submit claim forms for reimbursement?
How long does it take for me to receive reimbursement?
